THE MONTSOURIS WATER RESERVOIR – lower level
The reservoir is composed of 2 underground levels, which contain a total of 53,521,257 gallons of water. The most amazing fact is that it sits on nothing! Only quarries. A total of 1,800 pillars were needed to support such a weight. The work was finished in 1872.
