Growing hashish in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley

The hashish farm is run like a family business: children playing around, women, elderly everyone is totally relaxed and friendly. They allowed me to photograph anything I wanted, and I was able to create some unique amazing images.

Make no mistake, these villagers are known to be armed to the teeth, and no police or army would ever dare to enter into the villages. Despite the fact that their cultivation is totally illegal, they don’t look like mobsters. They are proud of their lifestyle and of the way they make a living. There is no sense of guilt, they just perpetuate a several centuries old farming tradition.
